Between August 2022 and April 2026 I worked at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, first as Project Manager, EU and International, in Food and Agriculture / Bioeconomy and Health, and from March 2025 as Senior Scientist in Infrastructure and Civil Engineering. In both divisions the role was Lead Coordinator for EU project proposals, and the portfolio came to centre on circular economy, nutrient recycling and soil health.

The work covered the full arc of an EU project. It began with deconstructing the call text and conceptualising a project framework, then moved through consortium formation, work package architecture, project management design, proposal writing, budgeting support, timeline design and deliverables planning. It continued well past the award into Grant Agreement Preparation, the DESCA consortium agreement, data management planning, ethics assessment and IPR. A consistent thread throughout was bringing social sciences and humanities components, qualitative methodology, co-creation processes and citizen engagement into project designs that are otherwise strongly technical.

Three projects were secured in a main applicant and Lead Coordinator role at RISE. Together they represent roughly 21 M€ in EU funding across the Horizon Europe Mission Soil, Horizon Europe Zero Pollution and Interreg Baltic Sea Region frameworks. Each has its own page on this site.

iCOSHELLs — Horizon Europe Mission Soil, 12 M€, 2024–2028

Innovative Co-creation Soil Health Living Labs responds to the EU Mission ‘A Soil Deal for Europe’. It joins 39 partners across eight European countries in building living labs that test practical ways to reduce soil pollution, strengthen biodiversity and raise public understanding of soil health. Further detail is on the iCOSHELLs project page.

FERTITEC — Horizon Europe Zero Pollution, 2 M€, 2025–2027

FERTIliser product recovery from secondary raw materials using best available TEChniques is coordinated by RISE. It maps the alternative fertiliser landscape in Europe and East Africa, identifies the most promising nutrient recovery techniques, and develops tools that help farmers, industry and policymakers put them to use. Further detail is on the FERTITEC project page.

CiNURGi — Interreg Baltic Sea Region, 6.5 M€, 2023–2026

CiNURGi is a core Interreg project on circular nutrient management in the Baltic Sea Region. It works on recycling nutrient-rich biomass from agricultural, municipal and industrial streams into safe and usable fertilisers, and on the policy conditions that reduce nutrient leakage into the sea. Further detail is on the CiNURGi project page.
